In design and technology this week year 1 have been trying different fruits to decide what they do and don’t like in preparation for making our own pancake topping.
What an eventful week we have had in Year 1. We were surprised with a visit from a very naughty Pea on Tuesday. He made a terrible mess in the classroom. We decided to write notes to leave around the classroom to give him ideas of ways he could be better. We were delighted to find that he had moved all of our faces to yellow and said sorry this morning! We think the pea should now be called “the good pea”.
Year 1 braved the strong winds yesterday to plant bulbs in our outdoor area as part of our science topic. We cannot wait to watch them grow into beautiful flowers in Spring time to help us learn about the parts of a plant.
Poppy came into school this morning with a lovely picture to show Miss Ridgway. She had drawn a picture of a garden with common wild plants. She said there are “dandelions” and “daisies”. Fantastic work Poppy. 🌸🌺
Today we have taken full advantage of the glorious weather in our science lesson. We learnt about different wild plants and went on a hunt around our school grounds. Afterwards we drew lovely pictures of what we saw.
Year 1 have learnt about Esafey today. We talked about how we can follow the SMART rules to keep safe online and how we must speak to an adult if we are unsure about anything! Some of the children then had a turn at logging onto the Ipad. We can’t wait to continue this next week!
The children in year 1 have been showing off their counting skills to 10 today! Fantastic work everyone.
Today we have learnt all about how Elma the elephant is unique with his colourful skin. We discussed how it doesn’t matter how different we are because our differences make us special.
Year 1 are thoroughly enjoying learning vocabulary from our class text ‘Supertato’. Sophia, Winnie and Ava independently practised writing our new vocabulary ‘escaped’ and ‘distress’ this afternoon. Amazing work girls.
