The nursery children have had a fantastic day and they have all loved the messy activities. This afternoon they have been on a welly paint walk, been tea bag splatting, paint spraying cloths, Berry mashing and much more. The children have loved being able to have the freedom to explore their learning.
What a brilliant time we had out on our playground this morning making gloop, welly painting, spray painting, mushing fruit and painting bread. The children had the biggest smiles on their faces all day and the adults had a great time too!
We were joined tonight at the John Muir Club by some members of Foundation Stage. Mrs Hassall gave them a guided tour of the woods. They were very impressed and have lots of fantastic ideas planned for their classes when they go into the woods next week.
A huge thank you to our regulars who have carried out the jobs needed for the upkeep of our woodland. We finished just in the nick of time before the rain! No sign yet of any wild flower seedlings but hoping the wet weather will help. Thank you to a kind member of our community for the donation of the two very sturdy benches. We will certainly be putting them to good use in the near future.
A lovely end to the week. The bug house now has another floor filled with pots, stones, leaves, twigs and grass. The fire pit is a few inches deeper and we began to clear another area ready for a sensory garden. Thanks everyone.
Thank you everyone (Joe’s mum too who missed the photo!)
What a wonderful time we had at gardening club after school today. Thank you so much to all the helpers who came and worked so hard alongside their children. It was fab! We were able to get so much done.
Thank you Sienna for bringing a box full of batteries to be recycled.
Lots going on in the woods this afternoon. One group started to make a bug hotel. We filled the bottom level of the pallet with twigs, logs and bricks. Next time we will continue to add more levels and fill them with other things such as leaves, stones and bamboo straws. This will then become a safe habitat for lots of different insects. Another group finally removed the most enormous root from the fire pit area whilst a new member hopped into action but had to be rescued from the brambles!
Another lovely evening in the woods this afternoon. Not far now – we have almost made it to the fire pit! One of the photographs shows the space where this will be. Everyone worked super hard tonight.
